They should look into it but it’s not uncommon for early stage startups in biotech to not have a website. I know because I search some out that I believe have a nascent program in AATD. When you google them you get references to incorporation documents and little else. Also ARPA-H is a strange beast. It’s not a normal grant making program of NIH. It was going for moonshots not incremental change. In theory that could make it more open for funny business. I’ll bet the reality is more boring than that.

Imagine having to pay all that money, and then be obliged to have to tell him how awesome he is. It would be like being forced to eat excrement, and then taste it all over again as it is regurgitated.

A lot of companies are starting to focus on glasses with cameras and basic computing (voice interface) Meta released a concept of regularish looking glasses that do a lot of things that smartphones currently do.

@NobodySock said in Cause Of Death: I would surmise that this fentanyl issue would be a big incentive for drug addicts to quit. Not knowing if your next toot is going to kill you or not has to make one think before rolling the dice. I realize addiction to amphetimine and opiod type drugs is a very strong force on one's will, but maybe this could be looked at as a good thing for the overall health of our country's citizens. One would think Republicans would actually relish its impact on the subculture of humans who are a drag on society with the homelessness and panhandling that is the usual end result for addicts, but then again, it's become their number one plank to stop illegal immigration. It's the reason Trump wanted to tarrif Canada though very little has been discovered passing to the US from there. They'll just go to a different drug. Illicit drugs tend to cycle, as junkies die or wise up about one and then they stagger to another.

https://www.nbcnews.com/science/space/moon-landing-private-spacecraft-second-time-week-rcna194919 For the second time in less than a week, a privately built U.S. spacecraft will attempt to land on the moon. The robotic lander, dubbed Athena, was developed by the Texas-based company Intuitive Machines. It launched into space on Feb. 26 and has spent the past week journeying to the moon. At roughly the size of a dishwasher, the six-legged craft aims to touch down at a site in the moon’s south polar region, then spend a week looking for the possible presence of water ice below the lunar surface. The landing is scheduled for Thursday at 12:32 p.m. ET. NASA TV will broadcast a live stream of the event beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET. Less than one hour away. https://plus.nasa.gov/scheduled-video/intuitive-machines-2-lunar-landing/

https://www.foodandwine.com/bushmills-secrets-of-the-river-bush-46-year-old-irish-whiskey-11691643 Irish whiskey has, for centuries, been duking it out with Scotch whisky for bragging rights as to where the water of life or uisce beatha, as it’s known in Gaelic, was first distilled. Whoever got there first, whiskey has been made in Ireland for a very long time, possibly as far back as the 12th century. Which makes it even more impressive that Bushmills, the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery — dating back to 1608 — is issuing Secrets of the River Bush. Aged for 46 years, it’s the longest-aged Irish single malt ever released.

@LuFins-Dad said in Manchin wlll not seek reelection: He was never going to seek re-election against Justice. Manchin is the 2nd favorite West Virginia politician, but Justice is #1, and it’s not close. https://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherhelman/2025/01/10/this-former-billionaire-and-new-us-senator-is-now-broke/ In mid-January, when West Virginia Governor Jim Justice II was sworn into the United States Senate, the former billionaire became one of the nation’s poorest senators. How can that be?After all, for nearly a decade until 2021, Forbes figured Justice to be worth as much as $1.9 billion, the richest man in the Mountain State, thanks to a lifetime amassing a fortune in coal and real estate with gems like the historic 710-room Greenbrier resort in West Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains, with a golf course that has hosted annual LIV and PGA Tour tournaments. But a closer look at Justice’s finances reveals that his empire is severely troubled. The Greenbrier is suffering from years of neglect and may now be worth less than half the $1 billion value Justice long claimed. His coal companies, led by Bluestone Resources, still mine about 500,000 tons per year, but that’s down from 2 million tons a decade ago. They likely generate $150 million in revenue and have an enterprise value under $200 million. Those are substantial assets, but Justice’s liabilities are much greater. According to Forbes estimates, he is in hock to the tune of more than $1 billion in the form of personally guaranteed bank loans, debt, court judgments and environmental liabilities. By Forbes’ reckoning, the new Republican senator has a net worth of less than zero.Justice's attorneys and spokespeople have not responded to Forbes' repeated requests for comment. Justice’s attorneys and spokespeople did not respond to Forbes’ requests for comment.

Tate is sort of like the flip side of gender ideology. It’s what happens when you reduce a human down to chimpanzee-level logic and social reasoning. I think the interesting part is that we’re struggling with the epistemological basis for understanding ourselves. Anyways… back to Tate
